As anyone who is doing or reading this blog is probably thinking(that we all have the best parents) that what I am going to write, but I truly have the best parents in the world. I came along after they had been married for 12 years. They have provided me with a strong and loving environment since the beginning!
My dad (Bo) and mother (Sunie) were pretty much high school sweethearts. Bo grew up outside of WP on a farm, and Sunie lived in town. The lovebirds tied the knot 2 years after graduating from high school and they are still going strong after 38 years together! When I look at my parents I am in total shock and awe at how lucky I was to be raised in a home with 2 parents. Believe me, I count my blessings every day for that simple fact.
Bo is a salesman specializing in animal health. He has worked for the same company for over 35 years. He is gone for a couple days of the week. When not doing his day job one can probably find him farming. Farming takes up a lot of his time but he seems to enjoy it, so more power to you Bo! Bo is very active in the community; he is an elder at our church, a member of the local school board (and a member of some State of Missouri School Board thing), co-director (along with Sunie, and another couple from WP) of the NJCAA volleyball tourney that WP hosts in November.
Sunie is the manager of a classified paper in WP. She has been in the newspaper world for 25 years. Sunie can be credited with making sure everything runs smooth in our family. She is truly the backbone of the operation. Sunie helps Bo with farming duties, she is a member of the local Rotary chapter in WP, a deacon at church, and co-director of the volleyball tourney that I mentioned earlier.
My parents are my best friends. I can talk to either one of them about anything. And I mean anything! They both know that I am not a perfect child, but they still loved me just as much after I committed the mistake. (Trust me, I have made about a zillion mistakes and they still love me!) I always know where I stand with my parents, they both will tell you the truth whether or not you really want to hear it, and for that I am thankful as I can't stand fakeness. Just give it to me straight folks! I talk to Bo every single MOnday night, and Sunie and I e-mail each other a couple times a week and talk a couple times on the phone.
This blog entry was a fun one, as I got to reflect on my parents. So here's to Bo and Sunie on 38 years from a very appreciative daughter!(The photo was taken in October at their 39th high school reunion.)
